Jinns & Black Magic — The Hidden Reality Explained through Quran and Sunnah

November 10, 2025

The unseen world is a reality confirmed by the Quran and Sunnah. Among the unseen creations are Jinns, who, like humans, have free will — some are believers and others are disbelievers. Unfortunately, some evil jinns are used by magicians to harm people through black magic (Sihr).

Black magic and jinn possession are among the most dangerous forms of spiritual illness, affecting a person’s physical health, emotional balance, and even family relationships. However, the Quran provides clear guidance on how to understand and protect oneself from these unseen harms.

1. The Existence of Jinns in Islam

Jinns are real beings created from smokeless fire. Allah ﷻ says:

> “And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire.”
(Surah Ar-Rahman, 55:15)

They live among us, though unseen, and like humans, they eat, marry, and die. Some of them are righteous, while others are rebellious and harmful.

2. What Is Black Magic (Sihr)?

Black magic, known as Sihr in Arabic, is an evil practice in which magicians use forbidden acts to seek help from jinns and shayateen (devils) to harm others.

Allah says in the Quran:

> “They followed what the devils had recited during the reign of Solomon. Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic…”
(Surah Al-Baqarah, 2:102)

Black magic can cause serious problems in a person’s life — such as illness, depression, anxiety, infertility, loss of wealth, or constant family disputes.

3. The Connection Between Jinns and Black Magic

Magicians often make pacts with evil jinns to perform certain acts of worship or sacrifice in exchange for their help. These jinns then attach themselves to the victim, causing physical and psychological harm.

The Prophet ﷺ warned that seeking help from magicians is haram (forbidden) and a form of disbelief because it involves cooperation with the devils.

> “Whoever goes to a fortune-teller or a magician and believes in what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad.”
(Ahmad)

4. Symptoms of Jinn Possession or Black Magic

Some common signs include:

Sudden health issues with no medical explanation

Unexplained sadness, anxiety, or anger

Nightmares or seeing frightening creatures in dreams

Feeling heaviness in the body or pressure on the chest

Problems in marriage or family without clear reasons

Forgetfulness and lack of concentration

Hearing voices or feeling that someone is watching you
These symptoms should not be ignored — they may be a sign of a spiritual problem.

5. Quranic Remedies and Spiritual Protection

Islam provides powerful ways to protect yourself from jinns and black magic:

A. Recitation of the Quran

Recite daily:

Surah Al-Falaq (113)

Surah An-Naas (114)

Ayat-ul-Kursi (2:255)

Surah Al-Baqarah (especially last 2 verses)
> The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for the taking of it is a blessing and leaving it is a cause of regret, and the magicians cannot confront it.”
(Muslim)

B. Ruqyah Shariah (Quranic Healing)

Ruqyah means reciting Quranic verses and authentic supplications for healing. You can perform self-Ruqyah by reading verses over yourself or seek help from a qualified Raqi who uses the Quran and Sunnah — not magic or charms.

C. Daily Adhkar (Remembrances)

Morning and evening supplications protect you from unseen harm. Always recite the recommended adhkar after every Salah, before sleeping, and when leaving home.

D. Avoid Haram Practices

Never visit magicians, fortune-tellers, or people who use non-Islamic amulets. These acts open the door to jinn interference and disbelief.

6. Keeping Your Home Spiritually Protected

To keep your home safe from jinns and sihr:

Recite Surah Al-Baqarah regularly in your house.

Keep your environment pure — avoid music, indecency, and images of living beings.

Maintain Taharah (cleanliness) and pray regularly.

Conclusion

Jinns and black magic are part of the unseen reality that Allah has warned us about. However, a believer who holds firm faith, performs regular prayers, recites the Quran, and stays close to Allah has nothing to fear.

The Quran and Sunnah provide complete protection against every form of harm. Remember, Allah is the ultimate Protector (Al-Hafeez) — no evil force can harm you without His will.

> “Indeed, My protector is Allah, who has revealed the Book; and He protects the righteous.”
(Surah Al-A’raf, 7:196)
