The evil eye — known in Arabic as Al-Ayn (العين) and in Urdu as نظر بد (Nazar-e-Bad) — is a real spiritual harm mentioned in the Qur’an and Sunnah. It occurs when someone looks at another person or their blessings with envy, amazement, or jealousy, causing harm by Allah’s will. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
> “The evil eye is real.”
(Sahih Muslim 2188)
But Allah ﷻ has also given us powerful protection and healing through the Qur’an and authentic supplications (duas). Let’s explore them.
🌿 1. Qur’anic Verses (Ayat) for Protection from the Evil Eye
The best way to cure and protect oneself from the evil eye is through the recitation of specific Qur’anic verses known as Ruqyah Shariah.
🔹 Surah Al-Falaq (113) & Surah An-Nas (114)
These two short chapters are the most powerful protection from all kinds of spiritual harm, including the evil eye, magic, and jinn.
Recite them three times every morning and evening.
> قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ الْفَلَقِ ...
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ ...
🔹 Ayat al-Kursi (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:255)
This verse protects from all harm and brings divine safety. Recite it after every obligatory prayer and before sleeping.
🔹 Surah Al-Baqarah (Verse 102 and 255–257)
Regular recitation of Surah Al-Baqarah removes shayateen and breaks the effects of the evil eye and magic.
🌸 2. Authentic Duas from the Sunnah
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught several duas to seek protection and healing from the evil eye.
🌟 Dua for Protection (for children and adults):
> أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
A‘udhu bi kalimatillahi at-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”
(Sahih Muslim 2708)
Recite this three times in the morning and evening for protection from the evil eye, magic, and all harm.
🌟 Dua for Someone Affected by the Evil Eye
When you suspect someone has been afflicted, recite the following dua over them or over water and let them drink or bathe with it:
> اللهم رب الناس أذهب الباس واشفِ أنت الشافي لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك شفاءً لا يغادر سقماً
“O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm and cure him. You are the Healer. There is no healing except Your healing — a healing that leaves no illness behind.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari 5743)
🕋 3. Other Sunnah Practices for Protection
Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas every night before sleeping.
Regularly perform morning and evening adhkar (Azkar-e-Subh-o-Shaam).
Maintain wudu (ablution) and pray five daily prayers.
Avoid showing off blessings unnecessarily — be humble and say Masha’Allah when praising others.
🌺 Conclusion
The evil eye can harm, but Allah’s protection is stronger than any harm. The Qur’an and Sunnah provide complete spiritual healing for those who sincerely seek it.
Recite these duas with faith, consistency, and trust in Allah ﷻ, and you will find peace and protection from all hidden harms.
