The evil eye, known in Arabic as Al-Ayn (العين) and in Urdu as نظر بد (Nazar-e-Bad), is a real phenomenon that can cause harm to one’s health, emotions, and success. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said:
> “The evil eye is real, and if anything were to overtake destiny, it would be the evil eye.”
(Sahih Muslim 2188)
Many people today suffer from unexplained illness, anxiety, failures, and family issues — sometimes caused by the evil eye. But Islam provides us with complete guidance on how to remove its effects and protect ourselves from it.
💫 1. Perform Ruqyah Shariah (Quranic Healing)
Ruqyah Shariah is the most authentic method to remove the effects of the evil eye. It involves reciting Qur’anic verses and supplications for protection and healing.
🔹 Verses for Ruqyah:
Surah Al-Falaq (113)ww
Surah An-Nas (114)
Surah Al-Ikhlas (112)
Ayat-ul-Kursi (2:255)
Last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah (2:285–286)
These verses should be recited with full belief in Allah’s power. You can recite them over water or olive oil, blow into it, and then drink or apply it to the affected area.
🌿 2. Use the Sunnah Method for Healing
Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught specific actions for removing the effects of the evil eye:
🌸 If You Know Who Gave the Evil Eye
If you know the person who caused it, ask them to perform wudu (ablution), then pour the water used for their wudu over the affected person.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
> “When you are asked to wash (to cure from the evil eye), you should wash.”
(Sunan Abu Dawood 3880)
This method has proven to remove the harmful effects of the evil eye immediately by Allah’s permission.
💧 3. Regular Recitation for Self-Protection
Reciting the following duas daily helps remove and prevent the effects of the evil eye:
> أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ
A‘udhu bi kalimatillahi at-tammati min sharri ma khalaq
“I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created.”
(Sahih Muslim 2708)
Recite this dua three times in the morning and evening.
Also recite Surah Al-Falaq and Surah An-Nas three times after Fajr and Maghrib for continued protection.
🧿 4. Keep Faith and Avoid Fear
Remember that the evil eye only harms by Allah’s will. Fear gives power to shayateen; faith removes their influence. Keep your heart firm, and trust Allah’s promise:
> “And never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us.”
(Surah At-Tawbah 9:51)
Maintain your prayers, stay in wudu, and fill your home with the remembrance of Allah.
💎 5. Maintain a Clean Spiritual Environment
Play Surah Al-Baqarah in your home frequently.
Keep your surroundings free from sins, bad media, and arguments.
Make dhikr (remembrance of Allah) a daily habit.
Say Masha’Allah when you admire someone or something to prevent envy.
🌺 Conclusion
The evil eye is real, but Allah’s protection is far greater. Through Ruqyah, Qur’anic recitations, and Sunnah duas, a believer can remove its effects completely.
Trust in Allah, stay steadfast in worship, and fill your life with remembrance — for no harm can remain where Allah’s name is remembered sincerely.
