Spiritual Healing with Ruqyah: Quranic Approaches to Overcoming Black Magic

July 24, 2025

In the light of Islam, the Quran offers not only guidance for daily life but also healing for the body, mind, and soul. Among the most powerful methods of spiritual treatment is Ruqyah Shariah—a Quranic remedy practiced for protection and healing from unseen harms, including black magic (sihr), evil eye (‘ayn), and jinn possession. This blog will explore how Ruqyah can be used to overcome black magic through authentic Islamic methods.

What is Ruqyah Shariah?

Ruqyah Shariah refers to the recitation of Quranic verses and authentic supplications (duas) from Hadith for the purpose of spiritual healing. It is a practice approved by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, who himself performed Ruqyah and taught his companions to do so for protection against spiritual harm.

There are two types of Ruqyah:

Ruqyah Shariah: Based on Quran and Sunnah.

Ruqyah Sihr or shirk-based: Involves magic, calling jinn, or un-Islamic rituals (strictly forbidden).
This article focuses solely on Ruqyah Shariah, the lawful and spiritual practice.

Understanding Black Magic in Islam

Black magic (Sihr) is a real and dangerous spiritual illness mentioned in the Quran. Allah says:

> “...but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic...”
(Surah Al-Baqarah 2:102)

Black magic involves invoking jinn to harm others physically, mentally, or spiritually. Symptoms may include:

Sudden changes in behavior

Strong fear, anxiety, or depression

Constant bad dreams or sleep paralysis

Unexplainable medical issues

Disconnection from loved ones

Hearing voices or feeling unseen presence

Quranic Verses for Healing from Black Magic

Ruqyah involves reciting specific Quranic verses believed to break the effects of black magic, such as:

1. Surah Al-Fatiha – for overall healing
2. Surah Al-Baqarah (especially Ayat al-Kursi, 2:255) – protection and expelling jinn
3. Surah Al-Baqarah 2:102 – mentions the origin of magic
4. Surah Al-A’raf 7:117-122 – relates to Prophet Musa’s confrontation with magicians
5. Surah Yunus 10:81-82 – to nullify magic
6. Surah Taha 20:68-70 – protection from magicians
7. Surah Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, An-Naas (the last three surahs) – daily protection from all evil

These verses should be recited regularly with belief, humility, and sincerity.

Steps to Perform Self-Ruqyah at Home

1. Purify your intention and seek only Allah’s help.
2. Be in a state of Wudu and sit in a clean space.
3. Recite the Quranic verses above slowly and clearly.
4. Blow on your hands and rub them over your body after reciting.
5. Recite Ruqyah water: You may recite the same verses into water and drink or bathe with it.
6. Repeat regularly, especially after Fajr and Maghrib.

What to Avoid During Ruqyah

Avoid amulets, taweez, or charms with unknown writing.

Don’t visit magicians or fake healers.

Avoid music, sin, and all activities that bring Shaytaan closer.

When to Seek Help from a Trusted Raqi

If symptoms are severe or self-Ruqyah isn’t improving the condition, it’s permissible to seek help from a qualified and trustworthy Raqi who performs Ruqyah only by Quran and Sunnah.

Conclusion

Spiritual healing with Ruqyah is a gift from Allah, a remedy rooted in divine guidance. When done correctly and consistently, it can not only break the effects of black magic but also strengthen your iman (faith), bring tranquility to your heart, and renew your connection with Allah. Always remember: true healing comes from Allah alone.

> “And when I am ill, it is He who cures me.”
(Surah Ash-Shu’ara 26:80)
